Position Overview:
This role of Accounting Associate involves the preparation and maintenance of financial statements in conformity with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles of the United States of America (U.S. GAAP). The primary responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day accounting processes and reviewing the accuracy of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Additionally, the position will also be responsible for managing the site managers (for accounting purposes) and preparing budgets to control costs and enhance support processes.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and report financial statements in compliance with US GAAP for specific users.
- Direct the audit and tax preparation process of individual sites as assigned.
- Develop, implement, and maintain effective accounting policies and procedures.
- Work and coordinate directly with US governmental entities for respective quarterly and yearly reporting requirements.
- Reconciliation of bank accounts, mortgage accounts, escrow accounts, and gross potential rents.
- Remain as a primary liaison for various internal departments for general queries and policy-related questions.
- Calculation and compliance of management and bookkeeping fees.
- Review tenant ledgers and verify their accuracy.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, with exposure to U.S. GAAP.
- Ability to manage general accounting and taxation processes.
- Exceptional analytical skills to interpret data and resolve complex issues.Detail-oriented approach to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
- Familiarity with general ledger applications (e.g., YARDI) is advantageous
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field (mandatory).
- CA, CPA, CMA, or similar professional qualification is a bonus but not required. Partially qualified candidates with relevant expertise will also be considered.
- 1-3 years of progressive accounting experience, with knowledge of U.S. GAAP preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general ledger applications (YARDI experience is a plus).
