Position Overview:

The Junior Accountant supports the finance department by performing daily accounting tasks, including preparing financial documents, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow their career in accounting.

Responsibilities:

  • Process transactions according to stated procedures and ensure that all transactions are recorded in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Reconciling invoices, statement of accounts, and investigating discrepancies.
  • Post accounting journal transactions in line with double entry bookkeeping.
  • Creating and recording of aging reports.
  • Manage relationships and provide daily partnering support to customers on their financial packages.
  • Implement procedure documentation in line with the internal controls and promote operational efficiency.
  • Ensure all policies are complied with fully in accordance with the company.
  • Act as a competent contact person for various inquiries relating to your area of responsibility.
  • Proactively identify service delivery issues and take appropriate action.
  • Support on standardization and continuous improvement initiatives within the SSC.
  • Ensure continuity of daily tasks.
  • Oversee the final preparation of financial statements for the customers on a monthly basis.
  • Give regular updates to the team lead on progress.
  • Assist in and/or carry out ad hoc tasks to support the business vision fully.

Skills:

  • Ensures transactions are recorded accurately and reconciliations are performed without errors.
  • Identifies discrepancies in invoices and accounts promptly.
  • Creates and interprets aging reports to assess financial health.
  • Manages relationships with customers and provides daily financial support.
  • Supports standardization and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proficient in accounting software and tools for posting journal transactions and preparing financial statements.
  • Familiarity with internal controls and compliance policies to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, etc

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Part or fully qualified professional accounting qualification (from a recognized accounting body) is preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ accounting experience.
  • Should have good exposure to IFRS.
  • Fluency in English. Additional spoken languages are a plus.
  • Highly competent in the fundamentals of accounting (IFRS knowledge is preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills as well as process oriented.
  • Understanding of VAT in UAE.
  • Prior working knowledge in ERP systems (ex: ZOHO) is beneficial.
