Position Overview:

We’re excited about building out our finance and accounting department and are seeking a versatile, adaptable, and collaborative Senior Accountant to join our highly skilled team. You will utilize your accounting knowledge and experience to ensure best practices and standards are met on a regular basis as Porch builds its internal processes. This role will support a variety of accounting and analytical work, and you will gain valuable experience growing a young company. Responsibilities:

  • Perform professional accounting activities related to general accounting and revenue recognition with minimal supervision.
  • Prepare and process journal entries for assigned accounts within deadlines.
  • Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts and provide supporting documentation.
  • Independently research and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports as directed.
  • Gain proficiency in general ledger systems and reporting tools to refine accounting processes.
  • Work with Accounting, Finance, and other departments to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate reporting.

Skills:

  • Ability to reconcile account balances, research discrepancies, and ensure accuracy in financial data.
  • Competence in using general ledger systems, reporting tools, and running trial balances to support accounting activities.
  • Proficiency in preparing journal entries, flux comments, and assisting in financial report preparation.
  • Strong analytical skills to resolve discrepancies and improve accounting processes.
  • Knowledge of SOX controls, accounting principles, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in accounting, with a strong track record in high-performing teams.
  • Solid understanding of ACS 606 (US GAAP) and/or IFRS 15 for revenue recognition.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with NetSuite and FloQast is a plus.
  • Ability to work with virtual tools and systems in a remote environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
