Position Overview:

The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for managing tax compliance and reporting activities, working under the guidance of the Senior Tax Manager. This role involves preparing tax returns, payments, and reports, as well as maintaining the company’s tax database. The Senior Tax Accountant coordinates with tax consultants and relevant tax authorities. The position requires the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and timeliness. As the company operates globally, the individual in this role may be required to work US Eastern Standard Time (EST) hours during critical compliance periods, though all work will be remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare US sales and use tax returns, remit associated taxes, and prepare foreign VAT/GST workpapers.
  • Assist with the month-end close process.
  • Contribute to the preparation of federal and state income tax filings, including extensions and payment requests.
  • Support the preparation of quarterly and annual tax provisions for US, state, and international taxes.
  • Assist with state income, franchise tax, and sales and use tax audits. Participate in process improvement initiatives related to sales and use tax.
  • Provide support to the Treasury function for operational tasks.
  • Prepare journal entries for intercompany cash payments.
  • Prepare property tax returns and manage FBAR filings.
  • Assist in the resolution of notices and inquiries from tax authorities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the finance group on tax and accounting-related matters.
  • Performs other related duties and activities as required

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of tax laws and regulations, including staying up to date with changes in tax codes and effectively applying this knowledge to the company’s operations.
  • Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and assess complex financial data and legal documents accurately.
  • Attention to detail in all aspects of work, ensuring precision in tax filings and documentation to avoid potential financial and legal risks.
  • Time management skills, especially during high-pressure periods like tax season, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising work quality.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with global teams, contributing to both independent tasks and team-driven objectives.
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements in tax-related workflows, increasing efficiency while maintaining accuracy.
  • Knowledge of relevant tax software and systems used in the preparation of returns, filings, and reports, with the ability to adapt to new technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or similar field. or equivalent additional years of experience (B.com or BBA).
  • 3+ years’ experience in tax compliance
