Position Overview:
A Staff Accountant is a key accounting team member, responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role critically supports the organization’s financial operations and is often a stepping stone to more senior accounting or finance roles.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares balance sheets and prepares and submits reports reflecting the state of the company’s finances to management.
- Assures a business or organization’s general ledger is balanced properly.
- Accounts for all transactions of the business, and confirms that the company’s accounting process is shown in the accuracy of the ledger.
- Documents day-to-day transactions, and reviews and checks the ledger monthly and annually.
- Works with Bookkeepers, Auditors, and/or Accounting Clerks.
- Reviews and interprets financial reporting requirements, rules and regulations.
- Provides record of assets, liabilities and other financial transactions.
- Generates revenue reports for internal and/or external use.
- Reviews, tracks and maintains billing information in the financial systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and other accounting regulations.
Skills:
- Requires broad knowledge of operational procedures and tools obtained through extensive work experience and may require vocational or technical education or entry level professional with associates or bachelor level degree.
- Works under limited supervision for routine situations.
- Provides assistance and training to lower level employees.
- Problems typically are not routine and require analysis to understand.
- Working knowledge of tax laws and GAAP.
- Strong financial analysis skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from a three or four-year college or university.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience
