Job Summary
The Accountant will manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, financial entries, reconciliations, and reporting. The role also involves maintaining accurate ledgers, supporting VAT and Corporate Tax compliance, ensuring timely and precise data entry into accounting systems, and assisting in supervising and guiding junior team members within the finance function.
The ideal candidate will have strong UAE experience, hands-on exposure to audit processes, and working knowledge of Zoho Books.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Accounts Manager in daily financial operations including AP, AR, payroll, and data entry
- Record and post daily financial transactions accurately and timely
- Maintain supplier, customer, and general ledgers
- Perform regular account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Support monthly financial reporting and closing activities
- Maintain organized financial records (electronic and physical)
- Ensure accurate data entry and management in Zoho Books
- Assist in VAT compliance including registration, filing, and deregistration
- Support Corporate Tax (CT) compliance and reporting requirements
- Prepare audit-ready financial records, schedules, and supporting documentation
- Assist internal and external audits and respond to audit queries
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and UAE regulations
- Support implementation and monitoring of financial controls to strengthen audit compliance
- Supervise, guide, and support junior accounting staff to ensure accuracy and efficiency in daily operations
Requirements & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
- CA (Chartered Accountant) qualification preferred
- Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience, with at least 5 years in the UAE
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
- Experience with Zoho Books / Zoho CRM
- Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
- High accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience in VAT registration, filing, and deregistration
- Corporate Tax (CT) knowledge is an advantage
- Experience in audit support and audit-ready documentation
- Strong knowledge of internal controls, compliance, and audit procedures
- Ability to prepare reconciliations, audit schedules, and financial reports
- Experience coordinating with auditors and handling audit queries
- Experience in team supervision or mentoring junior staff is an advantage
