Senior Accountant

Positional Overview:

A Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, reconciliations, compliance, and month-end closing activities. They ensure accuracy in financial records, maintain compliance with tax and accounting regulations, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to support business operations.

Responsibilities:

• Recording and processing cash and bank transaction, including prepayments and credit card transactions
• Performing bank reconciliations and insuring accuracy in financial records
• Conducting account and balance sheet reconciliations
• Preparing and filing VAT returns, including VAT reconciliations
• Marinating the general ledger and supporting audit preparations
• Assisting in budget preparation and conducting monthly budget variance analysis
• Contributing to the preparation of financial statements
• Maintaining and reconciling fixed asset schedules
• Supporting month-end and year-end closing processes
• Assisting with supplier payments and ensuring timely processing
• Liaising with banks and other stakeholders to facilitate financial operations

Skills:

• Proficiency in performing bank, account, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial records and compliance.
• Deep understanding of VAT regulations and experience in preparing, filing, and reconciling VAT returns accurately and on time.
• Skilled in maintaining the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and readiness for audits, and supporting financial integrity.
• Strong analytical skills for preparing budgets, conducting monthly budget variance analysis, and contributing to financial statement preparation.
• Effective communication abilities for liaising with banks, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth financial operations and timely processing.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in accounting (ERP experience is a plus)
• Professional qualification (CMA, ACCA, CPA) is preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Strong written and spoken English. Arabic speaking is advantageous
• Excellent communication, technical, and analytical skills
