Position Overview:
Associate Accountant is Responsible for accounting policies and procedures involving the maintenance of a precise general ledger, analysis of balance sheet accounts, and management financial reporting. Under direct supervision, performs routine assignments as an entry level professional. Develops core job competencies with existing procedures by solving standard problems. Typically requires an undergraduate degree, or, equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
Responsibilities:
- Handle various accounting tasks such as billing, revenue recognition, budgeting, forecasting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and review project financial reports and perform variance analysis.
- Communicate and coordinate regularly with managers and key stakeholders across global offices.
- Maintain accurate and organized files and documentation in line with company policies and accounting standards.
- Ensure compliance with controls, including SoX and business regulations.
- Provide necessary documentation and support for audits.
- Perform administrative tasks like data entry, reporting, correspondence, and basic analysis.
- Carry out any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles, bookkeeping, and financial reporting.
- Ability to analyze financial data, perform reconciliations, and identify discrepancies.
- Experience with tools like QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems, along with advanced Excel skills.
- High level of accuracy in preparing and reviewing financial records.
- Skill in identifying and resolving financial issues efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Recognized professional qualification (CA/CWA/ACCA or CIMA) with 1+ year of relevant work experience, or a degree in commerce with 3+ years of experience.
- Strong understanding of accounting, including full set of accounts, month-end closing, reconciliations, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and SOX compliance.
- Experience in project accounting for MNC engineering or construction companies, or in F&A (Finance & Accounting) for multinational firms.
- Hands-on experience with SAP, Costpoint, HFM, Cadency/AssureNet, and MS Office is preferred.
- Willingness to take on various roles such as Billing, Accounts Reconciliation, AR/AP, Project Accounting, Tax, and Corporate Accounting based on business needs.
