Staff Accountant

Position Overview:

Amazon’s Finance Operations, Accounting & Analysis (FOAA) team is seeking a Staff Accountant to support our accounting team.

Responsibilities:

• Perform month-end closing activities, including the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations and balance sheet analysis to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Support management in all aspects of financial accounting, reporting systems, policies, and procedures while ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal controls.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, including system and workflow optimizations within the department.
• Maintain strong financial controls and procedures, ensuring compliance with US GAAP (if applicable) and other relevant accounting standards.
• Utilize advanced Excel, SQL, and ERP systems (Oracle/SAP) to analyze financial data, generate reports, and support decision-making processes.

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, and reporting standards (US GAAP preferred).
• Ability to analyze financial data, perform balance sheet reconciliations, and identify trends or discrepancies.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, SQL, and experience with ERP systems like Oracle or SAP for financial data management.
• Understanding of operational excellence, Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, and a proactive approach to optimizing financial processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present financial insights effectively.

Qualifications:

• Must be a Certified Accountant (CA) with up to 0-4 years of post-qualification experience.
• Hands-on experience in month-end closing, working with sub-ledgers, accounting principles, and balance sheet reconciliation & reporting.
• Strong knowledge of standard financial software, including Excel, Access, Oracle, Essbase, SQL, and VBA.
• Experience in budgeting, planning, forecasting, and financial reporting, with the ability to use data-driven insights for business decision-making.
