Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager – UK Payroll to support Deloitte Member Firms in delivering accurate, compliant, and timely payroll and compensation reporting. The role involves leading shadow payroll activities, managing escalations, ensuring data integrity, and coordinating with multiple client and internal teams for successful payroll processing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review payroll systems to ensure availability and accuracy of key data required for payroll reports.

  • Deliver payrolls within client SLAs through effective use of applications and proactive communication with operations and client teams.

  • Coordinate with client teams to determine payroll start and end dates for accurate reporting and communication.

  • Ensure accurate shadow payroll reporting and compute gross-ups on reportable income for payroll teams.

  • Follow payroll calendar to deliver new balance sheets, updated balance sheets, and end-of-assignment notifications on schedule.

  • Act as an escalation point for process adjustments from clients and operations teams, ensuring timely incorporation into payroll and shadow payroll.

  • Manage reconciliation of payroll items between home and host payrolls, resolving discrepancies professionally and accurately.

  • Maintain detailed activity tracking to support reporting of client-defined metrics.

  • Lead compensation team discussions and client meetings.

  • Serve as the liaison for client tax teams.

  • Act as the primary point of contact and escalation for the GMC team.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance; OR Associate degree with relevant experience.

  • 7–9 years of expatriate administration/compensation experience.

  • 1–2 years of experience managing people or working as an Assistant Manager.

Skills & Abilities
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to break down complex problems.

  • Ability to understand, document, and train process flows in high-volume environments.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient in MS Access, Excel, and Word.
